Introducing Steve Cox - Gathering 2025 event planner

Join us in Kitchener, ON, July 2-5, 2025

Mennonite Church Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Steve Cox as the Event Planner for the MC Canada Gathering 2025 scheduled for July 2-5, 2025 at Rockway Mennonite Collegiate in Kitchener, ON.

“I want to be a part of planning this Gathering because I love the church and want to invest in its ongoing success wherever possible,” says Steve.

Steve Cox worked with MCEC in 2023 to plan the MCEC Annual Church Gathering and has also organized and planned events for the Free Methodist denomination. He loves the meaningful connections and community building that event planning for church organizations fosters. “Church gatherings offer a unique opportunity to unify, focus, and inspire leaders towards positive change,” says Steve. “I find joy working alongside so many that have passion and energy for the Mennonite church.”

Currently a director of business development in a local security company, Steve enjoys the opportunities it provides to build relationships of trust with clients by helping them secure their risks. He is an ordained MCEC pastor who has ministered at Niagara United Mennonite Church and The Gathering Church in Kitchener, ON. He attends St. Jacobs Mennonite Church.

The location of the MC Canada Gathering rotates among the five Regional Churches, ensuring that each region has the opportunity to host. Gathering 2025 is in Kitchener, with MCEC responsible for coordination and hosting. Ann L. Schultz, MCEC Executive Team Leader says, “MCEC looks forward to hosting this event, bringing together delegates and attendees from the Regional Churches with the hope of growing in unity as a nationwide family of faith.”

The theme for the MC Canada Gathering is based on 1 Peter 4:10: “Each has a gift.” It emphasizes the diversity of gifts that each individual brings to enrich the ministry of an intercultural church. "We eagerly anticipate gathering in Kitchener to celebrate what God is doing in and through us and to experience the rich tapestry of our diverse backgrounds, languages, and traditions,” says Doug Klassen, MC Canada Executive Minister. “This is a unique opportunity to grow in our faith, strengthen our bonds as a nationwide family and discern together where God is leading us."
