MCC condemns Israeli war crimes, calls for arms embargo

Mennonite Central Committee has done humanitarian and peace work in Palestine and Israel since 1949. Working through partner organizations, it has brought aid into Gaza, both before and after October 7, 2023. MCC's political advocacy on peace and justice in Palestine and Israel has been a benchmark for Mennonite Church Canada's own public stance on the region. In July, MCC joined the international outcry against Israel's blockage of aid into Gaza: 

  • July 3: MCC and some 200 other humanitarian organizations condemned Israel’s blockageof Gaza aid through conventional channels and Israel’s use of  a shady US organization to control a small trickle of weaponized food aid. Click here for the statement.  
  • July 23: Over 100 other humanitarian organizations, including MCC, called for life-saving aid to be let into Gaza, and condemned forced mass starvation as a war crime. Click here.
  • July 31: MCC was one among several Canadian NGOs that signed a public letter to Foreign Affairs Minister Anand asking for a halt to arms sales to Israel. Click here.
