The United Mennonite Church in Black Creek, British Columbia was founded in 1935 by Mennonites settlers from the prairies who had arrived in the early 1930s. They built their own meeting house in 1937. In 1939 there were 27 members and in 1947 there were 35 members. They had further building projects in 1963 and 1994. In 1968 there were 64 members. In 1985 there were 63 members and in 2000, 94 and 2002, 70 members. The leaders of the congregation were: Jacob Brucks (1939), Nick Friesen (1940-1954), Peter Born (1950-1954), Walter Dirks (1955-1960), D. Dueck (1959), August Schmidt (1960), Harry Dirks (1961), G.I. Peters (1962), Jakob Enns (1963-1968), Jacob Schmidt (1969-1970), A.B. Koop (1971-1992), Nick Dyck (1980-1982), Peter Neudorf (1985-1994), Tanell & Marvin Wirzba (1995-2000), Abe Buhler (2002- ).
This fonds contains bulletins (1972-1986), annual reports (1974-1986, 2001), statement of faith ([197-?]), and a directory ([1986]). The records pertain to the development of the Mennonite congregation in Black Creek, B.C. since the early 1970s.
