The Clearbrook Mennonite Church was founded in 1952 as an outgrowth of the West Abbotsford Mennonite Church. There were 60 charter members. The membership grew quickly to reach 153 by 1955. In 1963 the membership was 213 and in 1975 it was 233. The language of worship remained primarily German. In 1990 the membership was 152 and in 2002 it was 91. The leaders of the congregation were: Abram Loewen (1952-1957), Peter Bergen (1952-1954), Isaac Epp (1952-1957), Peter Epp (1954-1965), Hugo Scheffler (1958-1962), John Zacharias (1963-1987), John Sawatzky (1965-1986), Jacob Schmidt (1972-1977), Jacob Enns (1973-1998), Peter Harms (1987-2001), Walter Thielmann (1989-1994), Hans Federau (1996-2000), Dietrich Rempel (2001- ).
This fonds contains bulletins (1975-2001), photograph : b&w ; 17.6 X 12.7 cm ([197-?]), brief congregational histories (1968, 1975), a brief history of the Maria Martha Verein (1975), annual reports (1975-1989), directories (1968-1994), and newsletters (1990-1997). The records pertain to the development of the Mennonite congregation in Clearbrook, B.C.. They document some of the leaders and participants in the congregation.
