Historical note

The Peace Mennonite Church was founded in 1980 in Richmond, B.C. It was founded following the dissolving of the Prince of Peace Mennonite Church, also in Richmond, B.C. This congregation had been founded in 1961 as an outgrowth effort of the First United Mennonite Church and the Mountainview Mennonite Church and dissolved in 1978. The Sherbrooke Mennonite Church and the Prince of Peace Mennonite Church members from the Richmond area formed the core of this new congregation in 1980. They completed their own meeting house in 1980. In 1981 there were 134 members. In 1993 the membership was 206 and in 2002 it was 193. The leaders of the congregation were: Palmer Becker (1980-1987), Donovan Smucker (1988), Sven Eriksson (1989-2002).

The records pertain to the founding and development of the Mennonite congregation in Richmond, B.C. They document some of the leaders and participants in the congregation.
