About 20 Mennonite immigrant families arrived in the Glenlea area from Russia in 1925. They met for worship in private homes. In 1926 they began to meet in rented facilities. In 1928 they joined the Schönwieser Mennoniten Gemeinde, a multi-congregational church. In 1946 they became an independent congregation with a membership of 44. In 1950 they moved a building to Glenlea to use as their own meeting house. In 1951 the membership was 55. The membership was 56 in 1970. In 1975 this building needed to be renovated and enlarged, but instead they decided to build a new meeting house which was completed in 1975. The congregation has emphasized the study of scripture through its annual Bible study weekends. The membership was 91 in 1984 and in 2000 it was 135. The leaders of the congregation were: Johann Friesen (1931-1955), Johann Rogalsky (1931-1961), Cornelius Peters (1931-1934), Isaak Warkentin (1936), Jakob Pankratz (1937-1952), Jakob Toews (1939-1951), Abram Warkentin (1966), Jakob Friesen (1965-1975), Frank Wiens, Frank Enns (1975-1989), Frank Wiens (1990), Del Epp (1990- ), Ernie Wiens (1990- ).
This fonds contains bulletins (1989-2000), membership and family register (1932-1980), membership statistics (1937-1982), congregational correspondence (1945-1979), congregational constitutions (1977-1979), congregational directories (1980, 1994-1996), sermon ([193-?]), congregational and church council meeting minutes (1932-1981), and a brief congregational history (1975-1977). The records pertain to the beginning and development of the Mennonite congregation at Glenlea and they document the leaders and participants in the congregation.
