Harrow United Mennonite Church was founded in 1953 in Harrow, Ontario. It had its roots in Russian Mennonite immigrants settling in the area in 1928. These families worshipped in Leamington until they formed their own independent congregation. They had their own meeting house since 1951. In 1954 the membership was 47 and remained at around that number for the next twenty years. In 1985 it was 70 and in 2000 it stood at 81. In 1996 they expanded their meeting house. They had a mix of rural and urban members including farmers and various other professions. They stressed personal initiative in service. The leaders of the congregation were: Herman Lepp (1953-1966), Herman Lepp (1966-1983), Henry Paetkau (1979-1984), Audrey Mierau (1986-1988), Calvin Laur (1989-1990), Jim Brown (1990-1999), Greg Jutzi (2000- ).
This fonds contains bulletins (1980-1984), newsletters (1980-1986), a brief congregational history (1977), office holders list (1979), duties of congregational committees (1980), newspaper clipping (1981), commissioning service programme (1984), and church board meeting minutes (1984). The records pertain to the development of the Mennonite congregation in Harrow, Ontario. They document the leaders and participants in the congregation.
