Historical note
The Hillcrest Mennonite Church was founded in 1964 near New Hamburg, Ontario. It was founded by the East Zorra Mennonite Church who needed another meeting house because of increasing numbers of attendees or potential attendees. The East Zorra congregation assisted in purchasing land and building a meeting house for the Hillcrest congregation. In 1965 the membership was 154. By 1976 the membership was 209. In 1988 it was 220 and in 2000 it was 251. The leaders of the congregation were: Henry Yantzi (1964-1976), Vernon Brubacher (1966-1977), Gerald Good (1978-1989), Maurice Martin (1990-2000), Jan Steckley (1999- ), Henry Regehr (2002- ).

This fonds contains church council meeting minutes (1964-1977), congregational meeting minutes and reports (1964-1987), directories (1976-1987), various reports (1963-1988), annual reports (1976-1986), program cabinet and elders meeting minutes (1981-1984), papers on various subjects (1971-1985), list of congregational office holders (1965-1981), various other minutes (1963-1984), constitution (1976), and a brief congregational history (1979) and congregational profile (1976). These document the activities of the activities of the congregation, some of its leaders and participants.
